Improve your site safety with ChemiGuard

Tanker Offload Cabinets from Chem Resist

Maintaining site safety levels when handling and transferring liquids, particularly corrosive and aggressive chemicals can be challenging. ChemiGuard provides added protection for safety, security and peace of mind.

Loss of Containment (LOC) incidents can cause costly damage to people, the environment and your reputation. The majority of LOC incidents occur during normal operation, as liquids are transferred into and out of storage, caused by a range of factors including isolation failure and human error*.

ChemiGuard Tanker Offload Cabinets provide protection from LOC incidents, as liquids are transferred from the delivery tanker through into bulk storage. They can be easily installed around existing offload points or added to new ones as a site is extended.

With extensive experience in transferring and storing chemicals, Chem Resist supply ChemiGuard to organisations in a broad range of industries.

Take a closer look how ChemiGuard protects against LOC Incidents and can be adapted to your application.

What is ChemiGuard?

With millions of litres of chemicals transferred around the UK every single day, safe handing is an ongoing challenge. ChemiGuard Tanker Offload Cabinets protects against LOC incidents and improve your site safety.

ChemiGuard is a range of Tanker Offload Cabinets, compatible with both Pressurised and Pumped Offload methods, which enclose offload points to provide easy identification and safe liquid offload. The internal compartment of each cabinet can be configured specifically to your chemical and application requirements.

With safety features including integrated bunds, viewing windows and lockable doors plus the ability to colour code doors to identify individual offload points, ChemiGuard immediately improves the safety of any site.

ChemiGuard Pumped Offload Cabinet

Containing an integrated mag drive pump as standard, the Pumped Offload Cabinet safely transfers liquids from tanker to storage tank, containing all drips and spillages thanks to a 200l bund. Options for colour-coded doors allow for easy on-site identification to avoid cross-contamination.

ChemiGuard Pressurised Offload Cabinet

Allowing for pressurised or blown discharge tanker offloading, the Pressurised Offload Cabinet allows for liquid transfer from tanker to bulk storage and can be installed with a wide range of connection point interfaces, such as a flange or cam-lock.

Offloading of Waste Effluent

A pumped ChemiGuard offload cabinet is used to safely transfer waste effluent using an Almatec Air Operated Double Diaphragm pump.

Pressurised offloading of Sulphuric Acid

See how a pressurised ChemiGuard is used to safely offload 96% Sulphuric Acid, configured with a manual valve.

Pressurised offloading of Sodium Hydroxide

Find out how a pressurised ChemiGuard is used to safely transfer 32% Sodium Hydroxide, configured with an actuated ball value for remote operation.

Pumped offloading of Hydrochloric Acid

A pumped ChemiGuard cabinet is used to offload 36% Hydrochloric Acid, using a World Chemical Self-Priming pump.

Chem Resist Case Study

Tronox

The Tronox site in Stallingborough, Immingham in Lincolnshire processes titanium ore. It had offload points for both Sulphuric Acid and Sodium Hydroxide sited in high traffic areas of both people and vehicles.

Tronox came to Chem Resist seeking a solution to minimise the impact of any potential loss of containment, enclose open offload points, and provide easier identification of offload points for drivers.

After a detailed site survey, Chem Resist recommended 3x Pressurised ChemiGuard Offload Cabinets, with colour coded doors, orange to indicate Sulphuric Acid and purple for Sodium Hydroxide.

“Our tanker offload points were previously open flange connections in areas where we had high levels of traffic. Chem Resist fitted Pressurised ChemiGuards to our connection points. We colour coded the doors to clearly identify our delivery points for tanker drivers. ChemiGuard has immediately and easily improved our site safety levels.”

Richard Potts – Senior Mechanical Reliability Engineer – Tronox

ChemiGuard FAQ

What kind of offload points can ChemiGuard be used with?

ChemiGuard can be used to protect any kind of open offload point. If the open offload point includes some kind of tray, this would be removed prior to installing the ChemiGuard cabinet to ensure a complete enclosure.

Do tanker delivery drivers need any special equipment or training to use ChemiGuard?

ChemiGuard cabinets are very simple, quick and easy to use – so no training or tools will be needed. The delivery driver just needs to undo the locks on the ChemiGuard cabinet, open the door, connect the hose to the usual flanged connection point, then close and lock the door as the offload process occurs. Once complete the process is just reversed. A very simple solution to protect the driver, and the environment too.

Why are different coloured doors available for the ChemiGuard cabinets?

We can provide ChemiGuard with a choice of five standard door colours – red, blue, green, yellow, and purple – to allow customers to associate a colour to a specific chemical or process. If a site is taking deliveries of multiple chemicals, then colour coding makes it easier for delivery drivers to identify the various offload points.

Our organisation takes delivery of chemicals which offload using different tanker types and methods, is ChemiGuard compatible?

The ChemiGuard range includes both pumped and pressurised models to take account of the different tanker offload methods. We can fit the internal compartment of both models to specifically suit your application and include connection points, valves, drain points, instrumentation and pumps as the offload method and chemical demands. The ChemiGuard range also includes dosing cabinets in a range of sizes.

Can I purchase an empty ChemiGuard Cabinet?

Yes, you can! We do sell the majority of ChemiGuards with the internal compartments already fitted out ready for installation, but we can sell empty cabinets should you prefer.

Can ChemiGuard be installed to an existing system?

Depending on your exact requirements, ChemiGuard can be retrofitted into an existing fluid transfer system. Alternatively, our engineers can work with you to determine the specification for ChemiGuard in a new chemical offload and storage installation.
