Sulphuric Acid Storage Tanks

Storing Sulphuric Acid

Sulphuric Acid displays characteristics demanding specialist storage solutions, particularly at high concentrations (96-98%).

The characteristics of Thermoplastics provide safe storage for Sulphuric Acid, due to their high levels of resistance plus we have pioneered their use in chemical storage over the last 60 years. Our manufacturing method creates a homogenous structure containing no weak weld points and allows the lower tank walls to be created thick enough to withstand the pressures generated by its high specific gravity.

We have extensive experience in projects involving storage, dilution and transfer for Sulphuric Acid. Typically, we recommend HDPE P-100 RC as the most suitable storage material, plus we manufacture bunded storage tanks to provide additional storage safety in projects where civil bunds would be prohibitive.

Characteristics of Sulphuric Acid

Sulphuric Acid (or Sulfuric Acid) is a very widely used chemical, historically a country’s consumption was used as an indicator of its wealth and prosperity.

Sulphuric Acid (H₂SO₄): It’s a clear, colourless, odourles, highly corrosive liquid mineral acid used in a board range of applications including production of fertiliser, detergents, pharmaceuticals, metal manufacture and wastewater treatment.

Safe Transfer and Dilution of Sulphuric Acid

If you’re taking deliveries of Sulphuric Acid, our ChemiGuard range of Tanker Offload Cabinets provide protection against costly and damaging loss of containment incidents, plus we provide Sulphuric Acid Dilution Systems capable of reducing concentrate to your required dilution, saving time and money and giving you control of your supply.

If you need to transfer Sulphuric Acid, we have a broad range of chemical compatible non-metallic pumps in a range of technologies.

The Chem Resist team were really good to deal with, from initial sales enquiry to specification development, through to final design.

We had completed a Hazop study, which steered our design decisions and Chem Resist advised us how to achieve the recommendations in the study. We received drawings to review in good time and this process flowed through until final sign off. Once design was agreed, the Project manager communicated well to plan and schedule delivery.

The install of the tanks went to plan and then following this the Dosing pump and Tanker deliver cabinets were installed along with all process pipework. The Install team came prepared with all relevant information, Design drawings, MS and RA and completed the work on time to a high level of quality.

In summary, an all aspects, it’s been a pleasure to deal with Chem Resist on this project and I would recommend them.
