Polypropylene Chemical Storage Tanks

Polypropylene Thermoplastic Tanks

Polypropylene is classified as a Thermoplastic, a group of plastics that can be moulded using heat to a required shape and then solidify as they cool. Other Thermoplastics include Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Nylon and Polycarbonate all sharing characteristics including being durable, recyclable and chemically resistance.

We specialise in the use of Polypropylene and HDPE (High Density Polyethylene, P100-RC) using the spiral wound manufacturing method we developed with Cambridge University back in the early 1990’s and have been refining ever since.

The Polypropylene tanks we manufacture are Beige Grey material, RAL 7032. All our Thermoplastic tanks offer significant performance, maintenance and environmental benefits over traditional GRP.

Why Polypropylene Tanks:

  • Excellent broad range temperature resistance (0-80ᵒC)
  • Good chemical compatibility
  • Compliant with EU Directive 2002/72/EU (Food Grade Plastic Materials) and WRAS approved

Advantages of Spiral Wound Thermoplastic Manufacturing

Deciding which tank technology to use when storing chemicals means considering many factors.

As well as the all-important cost and project ROI, there’s also the chemicals being stored, health and safety requirements, and an increasing pressure to make the most environmentally friendly chemical storage decision possible.

When compared to the alternatives, whether it’s GRP or Steel, Spiral Wound Thermoplastics offer a number of advantages.

Polypropylene storage solutions we supply:

“The Chem Resist team were really good to deal with, from initial sales enquiry to specification development, through to final design. We had completed a Hazop study, which steered our design decisions and Chem Resist advised us how to achieve the recommendations in the study. We received drawings to review in good time and this process flowed through until final sign off. Once design was agreed, the Project manager communicated well to plan and schedule delivery. The install of the tanks went to plan and then following this the Dosing pump and Tanker deliver cabinets were installed along with all process pipework. The Install team came prepared with all relevant information, Design drawings, MS & RA and completed the work on time to a high level of quality.
In summary, an all aspects, it’s been a pleasure to deal with Chem Resist on this project and I would recommend them.”
