“I do love a good gathering”

As we near the end of 2021, after 44 years at Chem Resist we’re celebrating the retirement of Seamus Quinn. We take a look back with him at his career, moving up North, rugby and singing…

‘I was born in 1953, came over from Ireland in 1955 to Plymouth in Devon, where for the next 20 years my parents ran pubs. Between 1973-75, I went to the University of London to study Biological Sciences (Chemistry and Biology) and I was also the Union Treasurer. Of course, coming from a family that had run pubs all their lives, they’d said to me, “The union bar does not make any money”, and I said, “That’s impossible!”. We then made so much money we were able to buy a minibus.

Third Time Lucky!

Tom Carroll re-joins the team

Back in the summer of 2017, Tom Carroll joined Chem Resist for a 6-week summer internship as part of his degree in Chemical Engineering. He returned for another 6 weeks in 2018 and now he’s back for a third time, joining the team on a permanent basis and looking forward to solving customers’ problems.

New Water Recycling System to save 4M litres

Investment continues with Recycling System for Hydrostatic Test water

Last month a further £70k was invested in ongoing site improvements, in the form of a recycling system for water used in Hydrostatic testing our Thermoplastic Storage Tanks.

Fluid Transfer Division hits significant milestone

Chem Resist’s Fluid Transfer Division, founded in 1986, supplier of premium-branded pumps around the world, recently reached a significant milestone; supplying 10,000 pumps.

The Division distributes premium-branded pumps including; Almatec, Munsch, World-Chemical and Pan-World and allocates each pump leaving the Dewsbury site with a serial number to identify and trace individual models in the field; the serial numbers have just passed 10,000.

A Christeyns UK Case Study

Christeyns UK is part of the Christeyns group, based in Ghent, Belgium. Its principal focus is the manufacture and supply of detergents, supporting hygiene chemicals and equipment for the commercial laundry sector and the food, beverage and dairy industries across the UK, with an additional focus on manufacturing chemicals for the construction sector.

Chem Resist began a major project with Christeyns UK at their manufacturing site in Bradford during summer 2019 to provide 5 new thermoplastic storage tanks; 4 to replace existing aged chemical storage tanks and 1 additional 100,000 litre water storage tank to increase water availability on site.

National Apprentice Week 2020

An Interview with Joe Rhodes

To celebrate National Apprentice Week 2020, we get to know Joe Rhodes who began his career at Chem Resist as a Fabrication Apprentice back in 2004. Joe is one of our longest-serving apprentices and is currently a Design Engineer.

What did you do prior to joining Chem Resist?

I began my apprenticeship back in September 2004, before that I was at school and working part-time at weekends for ASDA, in the Dewsbury store. For 8 months, I worked at Chem Resist and kept my weekend job, but it became too much and I handed my notice in at ASDA.
