“Ticking the Box” for Trevor at Ferrybridge
Technical Support Engineer Trevor Nicholl, based at the landmark Ferrybridge ‘C’ Power Station in Yorkshire, says one of the many benefits of working with Chem Resist is the expertise and professionalism of the company’s installation engineers:-
“We’ve commissioned a number of chemical storage tanks from Chem Resist primarily for our water treatment plants and for our Hydrazine feed,” says Trevor, “and their onsite teams always tick every box; they’re confident, competent and know how to conduct themselves whilst on our site from a safety point of view - so we’re comfortable with them”.
When Ferrybridge ‘C’ was commissioned in 1966 it was the first power station in Europe capable of producing 2000 megawatts of power - enough electricity to meet the needs of around 2 million people...
Efficiency
Over the past decade it has spent millions of pounds in engineering works to improve the efficiency of combustion in the boilers, gaining significant
improvements of up to 80% reduction of dust and other emissions.
Though cost is an obvious consideration when ordering additional or replacement tanks, Trevor stresses that “quality at an acceptable price” is
their bench mark as cash savings can sometimes be eroded elsewhere:-
“Chem Resist carefully survey and plan ahead so when they come onsite they’re ready to go. You get people turning up sometimes and you’ll hear
‘Oh, we didn’t bring this….’ Or ‘we haven’t got that’ - to the point where I’m thinking ‘I wish we’d have just got on and done the job ourselves! You
don’t get that problem with Chem Resist. They’re nice people to deal with - people you’d definitely want working for you!”
