Chem Resist training for its future
We continue to invest in our future prosperity with the expansion of an in-house training school for young apprentices - and to monitor and maintain rigorously high
standards across the production process.
Our manufacturing facility for thermoplastic chemical process plant and chemical storage tanks is currently enjoying impressive growth - with several major new
contract wins including tanks for a big desalination project to provide Londoners with an increased supply of fresh water.
However, says Managing Director Simon Hewitt, many of our experienced fabricators and installers are approaching retirement and want to pass on their years of
experience to the next generation:-
“Some production staff have been with Chem Resist almost since its formation 40 years ago,” says Simon, “and it’s certainly not unusual to find people with over
20 years’ service - so it makes sense for our apprentices to listen and learn from them in tandem with their formal training. Also, there are no external training
courses available for our type of work, which is why an in-house facility is important. ”
67-year old Peter Parry was at the company for 28 years and spends a day a week teaching and testing the importance of high quality welding techniques:-
“It keeps me in touch with all my former colleagues and I’m putting something back into a company it was a pleasure to work for” says Peter.
Tom Fretwell is a 16 year old apprentice learning the practicalities of his job with Ian Guest - who joined Chem Resist when he was 24 - and says it’s a great help
with his NVQ Level 2 studies:-
“I’m with a successful manufacturing company where every day and every job is different - and I’m learning a lot!”
